The Battle of Franklin Trust has revised the existing commemorative value admission ticket to
now include admission to Lotz House as well as admission to The Carter House and Carnton Plantation.

Adult admission tickets for a guided tour at The Carter House are $15, and the same amount is charged at Carnton Plantation. Admission to Lotz House is $10.

The Battle of Franklin Trust is now offering adult visitors a $30 admission ticket which includes a guided tour at all three historic homes. This is a $10 savings to the adult visitor or a $20 savings per couple.


Carnton Guided Tours:


Carnton is shown by guided tour. The first tour of the day is usually at 9:30 a.m. and the last is at 4:00 p.m. Each tour lasts about one hour. We do not have a specific tour schedule, but typically you will not have to wait more than 30 minutes for a tour after your arrival. On fall and spring weekday mornings, you may want to call before you come because school groups often visit those days. We will offer tours but they may be delayed slightly.

Your admission includes a brochure that includes a map and information about the grounds, garden, outbuildings and cemetery which you may explore on your own.


Directions to Carnton Plantation

Directions from the north:

Our address is 1345 Eastern Flank Circle, Franklin, TN, 37064. From Nashville drive south on Interstate 65 to Highway 96, or Exit 65. At that exit take a right onto Highway 96 and drive west for about three-fourths of a mile. Next take a left onto Mack Hatcher Parkway and head south. At the second traffic light, take a right onto Highway 431. Drive for about three-fourths of a mile and you will see a sign for Carnton. Take a left onto Eastern Flank Circle (note: Eastern Flank Circle is a one-way road).

Directions from the south:

The same as above except when exiting Interstate 65 onto Highway 96, take a left turn instead of a right.

Directions from the Carter House:

Turn right out of the Carter House parking lot. At the stop sign take a right and drive just a few hundred feet to the traffic light at Cleburne Street. You will see a sign for Carnton and the Confederate Cemetery at that intersection. Take a left, go thru the stop sign, and take a right onto Lewisburg Avenue. You will cross railroad tracks and pass Heathplace subdivision. Eastern Flank Circle will be the second turn on your right after the subdivision (note: Eastern Flank Circle is a one-way road; you will pass the exit before you reach the entrance).

Directions from Downtown Franklin:

From the downtown square head along Main Street to Fifth Avenue. At that light, take an immediate left so that the Presbyterian Church will be on your left. Go thru the stop sign and just after that Fifth Avenue will curve to the right and become Lewisburg Avenue. Follow that road as it winds to the left and you will soon cross railroad tracks. You will cross railroad tracks and pass Heathplace subdivision. Eastern Flank Circle will be the second turn on your right after the subdivision (note: Eastern Flank Circle is a one-way road; you will pass the exit before you reach the entrance)

Directions from Interstate 65 in Tennessee:

Exit #65 (Franklin & Highway 96). Drive west on Hwy. 96 for one mile to the intersection of Mack Hatcher Boulevard.

Continue straight through traffic light. Drive 1.5 miles following brown “Carter House” signs, over railroad tracks, and turn left at traffic light at Church Street.

Go straight through two 4-way stop signs. At next traffic light, turn left onto Columbia Avenue (Hwy. 31 South). Drive 0.4 miles just past Fowlkes Avenue.

The Carter House is located at 1140 Columbia Avenue, just south of Fowlkes Avenue on the west side of the street.
